Kompass & Co is essentially about combining the concept of food as a social cohesion with the need for excluded youth to be given a place where they get to create something of value, while learning something at the same time. In order to acheive this Kompass & Co set up urban farming sites and uses let youth create food out of the produce that is then sold at various locations such as cafés, festivals, or retirement homes.
Many projects have been created as a result of Kompass & Co, you can read the full list here (in Norwegian). Below is also a video that describes the model of Kompass & Co.
The work of Kompass & Co is based on the the philosophy that all people are independent and carry the solution to change and better their lives within themselves. They are where the youth is and offer practical training that is individually adapted. We know the importance of having a network and help the youth with establishing their own.
