What happens when you cross disabled people with windfall apples that would otherwise have gone to waste? You get delicious apple juice AND make positive change in your city!
Epleslang is a social enterprise devoted to creating Olso’s best apple juice with a good conscience. They employ physically challenged people and young people looking for work experience, and have already picked 6 tonnes of windfall apples that have been made into delicious juice.
Epleslang has been producing premium apple juice for several years now and was chosen as social entrepreneur of the year in Norway in 2013. More importantly, in a newspaper test of apple juices, Epleslang won a landslide with the motivation: A delicate and successful apple juice with lots of body and taste.
Below is an interview with Anne Dubrau, one of the founders, explaining the social business model of Epleslang.
Adding to the social impact of employing people with a handicap, Epleslang tries to be as environmentally responsible as possible in their production by using renewable energy sources and organic methods.
Below is a video showing pictures of their first “harvest”.
