As one of Denmark’s leading IT and software companies with 3000 employees, KMD creates and delivers IT solutions for the local government, central government and private markets.
KMD plays a key role in digitalizing the Danish society and operates more than 400 IT systems that support the Danish society and accompany Danes from cradle to grave.
For instance, workers in the public and private sectors receive their salary through KMD’s payroll systems and key social security benefits such as maternity/paternity pay, sickness benefit and state pensions are paid through systems developed by KMD.
IT solutions for elderly people to stay connected
Developing digital welfare is to KMD a matter of developing IT solutions which can support knowledge sharing, the health care and education sector.
The public digitalization strategy in Denmark is focused on digitalizing the communication between the public sector and the citizens by 80% before 2015. At the same time, 400.000 elderly people above 65 years have never been on the internet.
As an example, KMD has together with Ældresagen (DaneAge Association) launched a new version of an e-learning programme “Dus med din PC” (Get to Know Your PC). The idea with the e-learning programme is to help elderly people in developing their IT competences in order for them to stay connected with the digital society. By the end of 2014, 54, 000 elderly people had engaged in the programme.
