Sølv

The Norwegian clothing label Sølv has stepped away from the regular trend-based fashion cyclus, and created a holistic business model based on a pre-order sales model avoiding over-production and more.

Slower and more sustainable fashion

Sølv has a different approach to fashion than most other apparel producers. They call their approach slow fashion. The idea is that fashion does not have to follow the cyclical trends that the industry is constructed around today that forces the consumers to purchase a new set of clothes for new every season. By creating fashion that is timeless and personal Sølv pro-longs the lifespan of their clothes and thus make them more sustainable.

Sølv is heavily engaged in the sustainability of their value chain, which they express on the home page:

We are inspired by the principals of “Cradle to Cradle”, and see timeless design, quality in fabric and seam, as well as involving the costumer in the production of the garment, as vital factors in pro-longing the garments lifespan. Our value chain, based on transparency and ethics, is the core in reaching our company’s mission.

This has lead to a prudent control of their suppliers as well as a minimum waste policy.
